STIJN ROTTIERS studied Philosophy at the universities of Antwerp and Leuven, and Sociology at the University of Antwerp. Since October 2004 he is working at the Centre for Social Policy. First as PhD student, with a Fellowship of the Research Foundation Flanders, later on as a researcher.

In his doctoral thesis (defended April 2012) he develops the ethical argument that inequality in economic well-being is unjust because of the fact that economic well-being is a dominant social recognition domain.

Stijn's research interests include social justice and the role of social recognition therein, and from both a sociological and an ethical perspective: welfare states, European social policy, and income inequality.
